Ether Hits $800, Up 10,000% In 2017

The price of Ether has hit new record highs above $800.

At press time, Ethereum is at $803.93 – hitting its record high at 22:50:25 UTC. The Ethereum-U.S. dollar (ETH/USD) exchange rate has appreciated by 10.42 percent in just 24 hours. Week-on-week, it is up 69.63 percent, while on a monthly basis, it is up 132.51 percent and for the year, it is up a staggering 10,089.22 percent.

Ethereum’s current market cap is $77.38 billion and growing. Developers are steadily working on its scalability issue as the digital currencies blockchain has become extremely popular due to how it allows various applications to be added on top of it.

As Bitcoin continues to climb, the altcoins have followed suit making it a monumental year for digital currencies as a whole. As the second exchange launched their Bitcoin futures today sealing 370 contracts, it is speculated that Bitcoin and altcoins will continue their rise. Some analysts strongly believe Ether could hit $1,000 a coin before the year is up.
